The Brooklyn New School was awarded a $50,000 Lowe's Grant to help finance this project, a concept for an educational activities laboratory and garden for school-aged children. Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation (LCEF) has helped more than 1,000 schools across the country create reading gardens, build playgrounds and implement other improvement projects that help strengthen their schools and their communities. etc
Life-Sciences Laboratory situated in an existing playground of a Brooklyn elementary school. Steel shipping containers were used as the main building component.

The Eco-Casita re-centers the importance of the playground as an interactive space and not just for peripheral activities favored by school children. It is now a place to learn and share knowledge about nature, experimentation and hands-on experiences that we carry with us long after our formative years.
