GLENNA JOHNSON | Founder + Creative Director

Designer

Glenna Johnson, a Detroit native, is Founder & Creative Director of H2O Silk. Her company produces one-of-a-kind hand painted scarves on silk. Currently residing in Washington, DC, Glenna rekindled her love of Detroit as a member of the design group that launched the 3-day DesigNation7 Conference in Detroit, Michigan, October 2010.

Reflecting on childhood experience in Detroit, Glenna acknowledges that the Arts have been a key foundation in her outlook on life, and appreciation of art culture and community. Ms. Johnson believes that this is an exciting time for the city and wants to be a part of Detroit's rebirth.

Educator

Mission: Dedicated to enthusiastic and dynamic teaching as a means of creating and nurturing a lifelong love of knowledge.

Eager to bring art students into the twenty-first century using a unique combination of education experience coupled with over 15 years background in design, merchandising and art education. Implementing technological approaches to subject material, while using motivational and implementation strategies to engage students in active learning, enhances Ms. Johnson's skills with students with special needs, including hearing impairment, learning disability and autism. OVERVIEW 3rd Eye View Studio is a multidisciplinary collective that functions as a vehicle for workforce development through design workshop programs. The Detroit Project will identify and select high school students and young adults for internships in the metropolitan area.

The target market is youth who are currently outside of the college
preparatory environment, while embracing a focus on the visually and/or
hearing impaired and autistic. The key objective is to enrich job experiences
in the design trade as well as encourage college opportunities.
